Elum C. Martin, 67, of 318 Spann Ave., died this morning in Community Hospital at Indianapolis after a long illness. He was a member of Beaumont United Methodist Church. Mr. Martin had been self-employed as a painter. He was born in Metcalf County, Ky., Oct. 26, 1909, a son of Bob and Laura Hurt Martin. He was married to Lora Wells at Glasgow, Ky., Dec. 23, 1930. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Phillip of Crawfordsville; a brother Ovil R. of Crawfordsville; five sisters, Mrs. Gertie Harvey of Colfax, Ill., Mrs. Martha Goode of Lafayette, Mrs. Lillian Goode of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Estell Harvey of Burlington, and Mrs. Alma Shelley of Beaumont, Ky.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roma and Denma. Services will be in McMurtrey Funeral Home at Summershade, Ky. Burial will be in Beaumont Cemetery. – jlr
